Graeme Chesters.

I am currently Special Research Fellow in 'Civil Society and the Global Public Sphere' based in the Centre for Local Policy Studies at Edge Hill University College in the North West of England. My research interests are globalisation, civil society, deliberative democracy, complexity theory and social movement networks.

During the past ten years I have been a teacher of sociology, a trade union organiser and a social/environmental activist. In addition to co-founding Shifting Ground I am also a member of the 'Notes from Nowhere' Collective who are currently editing 'We Are Everywhere' to be published by Verso in 2003. I am 35, married to Gwyneth, and have 2 children - Dylan (age 4) and Joel (age 1). I live in a peaceful and rural part of north Lancashire.
