Dave HortonPut broadly, my area of interest, from both academic and activist perspectives, is cultures of sustainability.  I have recently finished doctoral work in the Department of Sociology and the Centre for the Study of Environmental Change at Lancaster University. Titled 'Searching for Sustainability: An Ethnography of Everyday Life Among Environmental Activists', this research centres on Lancaster's green movement, and pays particular attention to the cultural worlds and daily practices of activists.  Whilst remaining both a social researcher and environmental activist, at present I am primarily a parent (Bobby is 2 and Flo is just a few months).  I chose to study environmental politics and culture after becoming increasingly involved in activism, and after spells as a residential social worker, counsellor and youth worker. I am 35, a passionate cyclist and hills-walker, and live in Lancaster.
